GROWING THE FUTURE
We are excited to announce Vases for Classes, a new initiative where we will be donating an Acorn Vase and an acorn to schools around the UK.
When we started Ilex Studio, our aim was to bring people closer to nature through design. We are delighted that our project has been so well received and that many people have enjoyed growing and observing oak trees in their first year of life. This has helped create a bond with these magnificent trees.
We would love your help in nominating teachers who you think would be interested in participating. By nominating a teacher, you can help inspire students to watch and grow their very own oak trees, fostering a connection with nature.
If you know a teacher who would like to take part, please nominate them by completing the form below.
How Does It Work?
1. SIGN UP TO RECEIVE THE ACORN VASE
We will get in contact with your school and send an Acorn Vase at no cost. These vases allow you to witness a simple acorn you have picked grow into a magnificent oak tree.
2. COLLECT ACORNS AT THE PARK
Encourage your students to go on a nature walk or explore their local parks and gardens to collect acorns. This hands-on activity will help them connect with the changing seasons and learn about the lifecycle of trees.
3. GROW YOUR OAK TREE IN THE ACORN VASE
With guidance from their teachers, students will plant their collected acorns in the Acorn Vases and observe the growth process. This will provide a wonderful opportunity for lessons in biology, ecology, and the importance of trees in our environment.
4. DOCUMENT YOUR JOURNEY
As the oak trees grow, we invite your students to document their journey through creative expression. They can write poems, take photographs, draw pictures, or create any other form of artistic work that reflects their experience with the acorn and oak tree.
5. SHARE YOUR WORK AND INSPIRE
We would love to see and share your students’ creative projects! These will be featured on our website and social media channels, showcasing the creativity and hard work of young minds.
