We came across this charming little book and fell in love with it. Written by Anna Milbourne, with lovely illustrations by Simona Dimitri, the story follows the growth of a tiny acorn into a beautiful old oak tree. Peep under leaves and between branches to discover all kinds of creatures that live there.
The story runs over 14 colourful pages including the inside covers, set in double-spread format, with various cut-outs & durable lift-the-flaps dotted around.
Lots of creatures are busy at work as the tree matures and the seasons change, the beautiful illustrations offering much scope for extra discussion and, perhaps, some further research for the older reader/listener.
The book is designed for children, printed on thick board measuring 16.5 cm x 19.5 cm, with rounded corners and an angled spine area that makes it easier to pick up.
We believe it would make a lovely addition to the Acorn Vase.
